JAZZ, ROCK, CLASSICAL GUITAR: Instructor: John Horne Our guitar instructor is John Horne. John holds a bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is the author of Raw Materials: The guitarist's guide to mastering and applying scales, modes and arpeggios. Drum Lessons are available from our drum instructor, Tim Romine.. Thomas Romine was born in Athens, Ohio, attended Athens High School and Ohio University. During his three years in U.S. Army, Tom served with the1st U.S. Army Band at Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland, the 4th Infantry Division Band in Vietnam (1967 –68) and later played with 23rd Army of the Utah National Guard for five years He received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Utah He completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition in 1984 at the Ohio State University. Tom and his wife, Connie Romine, returned to Athens in 1998. Tom is in his seventh years as an assistant band director at Logan High School. He participates in Revolutionary War re-enactments and he participates in parades with various fife and drum groups. Tom has over 35 years experience in teaching percussion. He teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced snare drum, drum set, keyboard percussion. He also teaches hand drums, specifically conga drums and most recently bodhran.
